Sales Representative
Title: Sales Representative
Reports To: Chief Design Officer
Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly
Travel: <10% as needed

Overall Job Focus
Areaware seeks a highly motivated individual with a background in sales and/or wholesale to join the Brooklyn based Sales department. Qualified candidate must be able to prioritize and manage many projects on a daily and/or weekly basis. This role contributes to the success of the sales team by supporting Areaware retail partners internationally and a small section of domestic territory. Strong candidates are goal-oriented, have an appreciation for design, possess keen attention to detail, and have strong communication/collaboration skills along with proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Multilingual preferred, but not required.

International Sales
• Maintain and strengthen relationships with current distributors, including bi-annual introduction presentations, monthly telephone contact, quarterly goal review, securing orders, and handling difficult customer service issues.
• Replace poorly performing distributors, research and hire new distributors in unrepresented countries, creating territorial sales goals and executing contracts.
• Strengthen relationships with current international wholesale direct accounts.
• Prospect and onboard new international wholesale direct accounts both in underrepresented territories.
• Update and disseminate distributor agreements each December.

Domestic Sales
• Manage daily inbound sales inquiries from existing customers within defined territory.
• Active daily sales outreach to existing customers to grow Areaware business and offer exceptional sales/customer service support to our retail partners.
• New account prospecting to develop partnerships with new independent retailers to progress toward greater marketplace penetration.
• Conduct in-person meetings with local customers as needed.
• Deliver orders and account paperwork to the Customer Service team in a clean, organized, and efficient manner.

General Duties
• Learn how Areaware products work and effectively communicate selling points to customers.
• Track all daily activities in CRM for successful account management.
• Report on sales to ensure effective progress toward weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly territory goals.
• Sell and help organize domestic trade shows, and international trade fairs, as needed.
• Resolve customer issues by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
• Monitor marketplace by gathering current information pricing, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
• Assist in formulating international and domestic sales budgets and strategies.

• Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 2 years of wholesale sales experience
• Previous account ownership and knowledge of CRM systems is a bonus
• Strong organizational skills, flexible attitude, attention to detail, aptitude for working with many people, and ability to deal with a rapidly shifting workload
• Proven ability to develop lasting client relationships
• Ability to create and analyze reports and sense of urgency in meeting deadlines
• Pro-active, professional, positive attitude, and the diplomatic ability to work collaboratively, and willing to go above and beyond to make a difference in a growing organization
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

Bonus Points If. . .
• Understanding of the Areaware customer and passion for the brand
• Experience in international sales
• Well versed in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
